3. Drafting Michigan guard, Michael Onwenu

Michael Onwenu is a massive man standing at 6’3″ tall and 344 pounds. I like that size a lot in an offensive lineman, especially one who can move.

More from New England Patriots

As an example. I thought massive offensive left tackle Trent Brown was great in New England, helped them win a Super Bowl, and that it was a mistake to let him go.

I’ve compared Onwenu to that type of player in an inside lineman version. Now Onwenu is no speed guy, but he can block and clear holes for running backs.

Check out his performance in the Easy-West Shrine game. He was a great wall. An “immovable object”. I see him slotting right in as the top backup guard on both sides.

He’ll replace Ted Karras who left for the Miami Dolphins in the backup guard role and be better.  A stellar 6th round pick. Onwenu could become a key part of the Patriots offensive line.
