Could Chris Hogan return to the New England Patriots?

Unless the New England Patriots pull off a blockbuster trade for a wide receiver the caliber of Odell Beckham Jr., a veteran receiver like Chris Hogan seems like the best option to add some depth to the wide receiver group.

With Julian Edelman, Mohamed Sanu and N’Keal Harry expected to be the top three options, bring in Hogan to compete with Jakobi Meyers, Marqise Lee and Damiere Byrd as the No. 4 or No. 5 receiver would certainly add depth.

After an injury riddled season with the Carolina Panthers, Chris Hogan may welcome a chance to return to the place where he was most successful.  On the Patriots side of things, Hogan would be beneficial in that he knows the offense and also knows a little bit about Cam Newton.

The two didn’t play a full season with Carolina, but they at least have knowledge and some chemistry with one another.

At 31, Chris Hogan wouldn’t be expected to have as productive of a season as he did during his first stint with the team, but he has had clutch moments and have played on the biggest stage as he won two Super Bowls with the team while appearing in three consecutive.

In all, Hogan wouldn’t be the sexiest choice for fans, but he is a familiar option the New England Patriots already know they can rely on.
