J.C. Jackson will prove he is the real deal

While Stephon Gilmore is getting all the praise in the New England Patriots secondary, the emergence of J.C. Jackson allows the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year and the rest of the defensive backfield to play with confidence, trust and really gives them a swag.

In receiving the game ball from Bill Belichick following Sunday’s 21-11 win over the Miami Dolphins, Jackson is really establishing himself as the real deal.

Another undrafted success story, Jackson will have his chance to shine on the big stage against Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks passing attack.

Gilmore will be Gilmore, but J.C. Jackson will be the key in this game.  Whether he is matched up against D.K. Metcalf or Tyler Lockett, Russell will throw his way and that’s where the third-year corner will prove he can cover anyone, just like Stephon Gilmore said during his video conference on Friday.

"“J.C.’s a guy that came in and has worked extremely hard,” Gilmore said, as transcribed by NESN.  “(He’s) very athletic.  He can cover anybody, has great ball skills, and he keeps working every day.  He knows the game.  He’s a natural out there.  It’s fun playing with him because you can see him growing each and every day, and on that field, he loves playing the game.  He has that thing about him.  I’m happy he’s on our team.”"

To have a chance to win this game, the New England Patriots defense must not only contain and limit what Russell Wilson does in the air, they must also force a turnover or two.  If they throw towards J.C. Jackson a lot, he will win some of those battles and force a takeaway.

Bold prediction: J.C. Jackson gets an interception for the second consecutive week.
