New England Patriots unleash Devin Asiasi in a different way

New England Patriots rookie tight end Devin Asiasi was not unleased in the passing game as predicted, but he did see his snaps increased against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Out of 66 offensive snaps, the UCLA product played 26 snaps which was a major upgrade from his previous two games in which he played 20 total.  So, in a way the Patriots are given the talented rookie more opportunity.

While Ryan Izzo appears to be the team’s top tight end, the trust seems to be growing in Devin Asiasi and it will be a matter of time before Cam Newton starts throwing his way.  As for now, it seems his pure purpose is in the running game.

As far as the overall tight end position goes, there is still a lack of production as Izzo was only targeted one time in the game.  The team’s other rookie tight end Dalton Keene has yet to make his NFL debut.  He was once again a healthy scratch after coming off the injured list earlier in the week due to a neck injury.

So, while Devin Asiasi did not come up with 3 catches for 50 yards as predicted, his increased snap total earns him a passing grade for the game.
