5 New England Patriots to watch vs Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4
Brian Hoyer will be good by not losing the game
In no way will Brian Hoyer outplay Patrick Mahomes, but a big night for him would be him just not doing anything to lose the game.
As a veteran quarterback who has been in the New England Patriots system, Hoyer is actually the quarterback who knows the offense the most. In this game, he will be like a coach on the field in a game manager role that will certainly feature the running backs and a short passing attack.
With Jarrett Stidham watching on the sidelines, Hoyer will have to stay mentally focused not to make any mistakes that will give the Kansas City Chiefs extra possessions. If he does, Bill Belichick will see what he has in Stidham.
In his last NFL start for the Indianapolis Colts against the Miami Dolphins in 2019, Brian Hoyer threw for 204 yards with a touchdown and 3 interceptions. The three interceptions is something he will certainly have to avoid against a team like the Chiefs to give the Patriots any thought of pulling off an upset in this game.
While Hoyer offer the same excitement Cam Newton does, if he is efficient and stay without the game plan with no mistakes, the New England Patriots will be in this game.
