Brandon Carlo is rumored to on the move, but the Boston Bruins shouldn’t give up on him.

It seems like the Boston Bruins want to make some changes after a disappointing defeat in the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, but there are definitely some players worth keeping. Brandon Carlo is one of them.

The Bruins have a decent young group of defensemen. Not including Torey Krug who looks like he will be leaving, Boston has talented defensemen such as Matt Grzelcyk, Charlie McAvoy, Connor Clifton, Jeremy Lauzon, and Urho Vaakanainen who appear ready to play in the NHL.

With it likely that Krug is leaving, Boston will need to ensure that their second defensive pairing is still up for the task.

That is what makes the rumors surrounding Boston very interesting. It seems like the Bruins are willing to listen to just about any offer.

Carlo has been among the names mentioned in trade rumors along with Jake DeBrusk. It would be a big mistake if Boston moved him.

Ty Anderson from 98.5 the Sports Hub detailed just how big of a hole Carlo’s departure would create.

As you can see, Clifton, Lauzon, or Kampfer aren’t ready to be a top-four defensemen. Boston would be in a lot of trouble without Carlo. It’s hard to imagine them being able to win with that big of a hole on defense.

Carlo has had a good start to his career. Last season he had a career-high in assists and ended the season with four goals and 15 assists. That’s what you expect from your second pairing defensemen.

With Krug likely leaving, Boston needs someone they can rely on and trust in that position. Carlo is that guy.

Carlo seems like he is the future of Boston’s defense. Along with McAvoy and Grzelcyk, Carlo will be the backbone of the team’s defensive efforts.

So Carlo shouldn’t be moved by the Bruins. He is a promising two-way defender that is entering the prime of his career. They can’t give up on him just yet.
