Now this one might be surprising but the Celtics need to hold on to Marcus Smart. Yes, even more than Kemba Walker and Gordon Hayward. Boston has been able to succeed without these players, but Smart is a crucial part of the Celtics roster.

Smart is an integral part of the Celtics locker room. Like Brown, he is a great leader in the locker room. If Brown isn’t the captain, it’s Smart.

The guard sets the tone for the team. He can come on to the floor and change the game with his great defense or with some streaky shooting.

Smart is able to energize the team by making a diving play or causing a turnover. He is a great asset to this Celtics team.

The key for Smart is knowing his role. He needs to remember that he is a key part of Boston’s 2nd unit. When he does this he is one of the best sixth men in the NBA.

But sometimes Smart can drink too much of his Kool-Aid. We saw this in the Eastern Conference when he was taking way too many three-pointers.

So those are the three players who should be untouchable in Boston’s trade talks. They are the key to Boston’s success in the future.
