Cam Newton

One of the biggest disappointments for the Patriots has to be Cam Newton. It seemed like Newton would save the day after Brady’s departure but that is far from what has happened.

To Newton’s credit, he got off to a great start that included a great performance against one of the best teams in the NFL in the Seattle Seahawks. Newton threw for almost 400 yards, a touchdown, and an interception while also rushing for 47 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

More from New England Patriots

Newton gave fans hope and made it seem like the team actually had a chance, but then everything fell apart.

In his last three games played, Newton has thrown for only 417 yards, one touchdown, and six interceptions. It can’t get much worse than that.

There is serious talk about Newton losing his starting job. Who would have ever thought we would be saying that.

The Patriots need Newton to play better. If not the 2020 season is pretty much a wrap. All that New England will be able to hope for is that they get a high draft pick in 2021.

Newton’s performance this season can only be described as a disappointment and he would likely be the first person to tell you so.
