New England Patriots who won’t be back in 2021 — No. 4: Cam Newton

As much as Patriots fans might have enjoyed having Cam Newton on the roster, there is definitely a chance that he only spends one season in New England.

Now Newton has had a decent season for the Pats. He has thrown for over 1,500 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for over 300 yards and nine touchdowns.

Newton has been a dynamic piece of the offense. He has allowed for Josh McDaniels to open up the playbook and get creative.

But the problem is that will be 32 years old next season. He is definitely not the Patriots QB of the future. Newton is on the downswing. Before we know it he will be retiring.

With his performance this season, Newton proved that he can lead a team. He has made an impact both on and off the field. Newton has taken players under his wing and made them better.

No matter where New England ends up in the draft, they will select a QB. The question is do they want him to study under Newton or get some experience right away?

It seems rather unlikely that Newton will want to sign another one year deal so it seems like his Patriots career will be rather short.
