New England Patriots who won’t be back in 2021 — No. 2: Joe Thuney
This player won’t be that surprising. New England simply doesn’t have the money to bring Joe Thuney back.
The Patriots were forced to use the franchise tag on Thuney headed into this season and in 2021, Thuney should get a major payday.
There is no doubt that the Patriots could use Thuney. He is an extremely versatile offensive lineman who is able to play multiple positions. He is also one of the best guards in the entire NFL.
Some team out there will give Thuney a nice deal. He is only 27 years old and has plenty of great years ahead of him. He can definitley be an integral piece on a Super Bowl contending offensive line.

These are just the tough decisions that an organization has to make when they are rebuilding. They have to prioritize young talent and securing assets over winning games.
So don’t expect Thuney to be back in New England next season.
