New England Patriots who won’t be back in 2021 — No. 1: Stephon Gilmore

There is one player that will without a doubt be leaving the team in 2021. Stephon Gilmore will not be coming back to the Patriots.

The corner is in search of a payday and that will not be coming from New England. They don’t need Gilmore anymore. If Gilmore was to stay with the Patriots he would get the polar opposite of a raise. Gilmore would make less money if he wasn’t moved.

J.C. Jackson has established himself as the top cornerback in New England. He leads the NFL with six interceptions and has been shutting wideouts down. The smart move for the Patriots would be to sign Jackson to a long term deal and let Gilmore walk.

The Patriots know when it’s time to move on from corners. They knew when to let Darrelle Revis go and it’s expected that they will do the same with Gilmore.

So next season don’t expect to see these guys in a Patriots uniform. It would be rather shocking if that was the case.
