Darrelle Revis didn’t spend a ton of time with the New England Patriots, but he had a big impact and helped them win a Super Bowl.

Former New England Patriots cornerback Darrelle Revis was at one point the best cornerback in the NFL. He could shut down any wide receiver and completely take them out of the game, but in his last few seasons, Revis has struggled. No one was being put on “Revis Island.” The 11-year veteran announced on Wednesday that he is retiring from the NFL.

Revis used to be hated by Patriots fans. It’s hard to be liked when you spend 8 years with the New York Jets. Still you can not doubt his greatness. Revis was the best corner in the league.

in 2014 after playing a year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Revis came to New England. The Patriots hadn’t had such a great corner since Ty Law. Coincidentally they both donned No. 24 for the Patriots.

Revis performed well in his only season in New England. He had 2 interceptions, 16 passes defended, and 44 tackles. Revis would have better numbers in his career, but for a period of time quarterbacks wouldn’t even throw at him. He took away an entire side of the field.

In Super Bowl 49, Revis once again put a top wide receiver on “Revis Island” He shut down Doug Baldwin only allowing a single catch.

The Patriots went on to win the Super Bowl thanks to a different cornerback, but there is no doubt that Revis played a big role. Revis finally had a Super Bowl ring.

He would then leave the Patriots to play for the New York Jets once again.

Revis will be a first ballot hall of famer. He is one of the best cornerbacks in NFL history.

Also Revis was a great businessman. He knew his worth and managed to make $124,211,129 in his career.
