Boston Celtics: 4 trade exemption targets – No. 3: Aaron Gordon

The Boston Celtics could use some help down in the paint. Aaron Gordon won’t solve all their problems but he would help.

Gordon is one of the most talented “big men” in the NBA. I say “big men” because he is only 6′ 8.”

But everyone has seen the NBA get smaller. The days of Hakeem Olajuwon and Shaq are long gone. These guys aren’t expected to back players down. If anything they are expected to be quality perimeter shooters.

Gordon is a prime example of the modern power forward. He is an extremely athletic and able to get to the rim. He can also jump out of the gym as we have seen in multiple slam dunk competitions.

Last season we saw Gordon average 14.4 points and 7.7 rebounds a game. That is definitely the type of performance that Boston can use.

The question is how much will it cost Boston? Gordon is still 25 years old and is just entering the prime of his career. If the Celtics wanted to acquire Gordon they would likely have to give up Marcus Smart along with other assets and that’s something that will be met with a lot of criticism.

But if Gordon does end up in Boston, it will be interesting to see what he can do with all the talent surrounding him.
