Boston Celtics: Christmas wish list for every player on 2020-21 roster
The Boston Celtics big 4
Marcus Smart: Smart earned 1st Team All-NBA Defense honors last season. It is known that Smart is an all-around impressive defender on all areas of the court.
He takes on the big man matchups with a fiery drive, he takes on assignments with passion no matter the opponent, and he’s constantly proving to be a leader in every facet of the sport.
His Christmas wish is to be the Defensive Player of the Year. Although this may be a far-fetched wish, it is attainable as he is often considered the best defensive guard in the NBA.
Jaylen Brown: Brown is the Boston Celtics starting small forward.
The former 3rd overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft, and received a maximum contract extension before last season. Last season he averaged 20.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.
Going into this season, he is only looking to improve his stat line on the season. His Christmas list is double faceted.
First, Jaylen Brown would be ecstatic to be a first time All-Star this season. Another accomplishment that would be huge for him would be honors as a member of 1st or 2nd NBA All-Defense on the season. It would only be right for him to see that improve resulting in him earning the accolade.
Jayson Tatum: Tatum just came off of a break-out year with the Boston Celtics. He was the team’s leading scorer with 23.4 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists per game.
As he enters his 4th season in the NBA, he looks for higher honors and accolades than the past. Last season Jayson Tatum received All-NBA 3rd Team honors. As he is now considered the “star”, or first option, for the Cs, his expectations have skyrocketed to new heights.
The expectation and Christmas wish set for him are fairly attainable. He should wish to be a member of All-NBA First or Second Team and be an All-Star starter for the Eastern Conference.
Kemba Walker: The All-Star point guard will be entering his second year in Boston after a rough inaugural year with the franchise.
His scoring and assisting averages decreased, but he was on a team that made it to the Eastern Conference Final.
Despite the decreased output, he has surrounded himself with a talented team, and he is ready to do his part. Although he will miss the beginning of the season due to a knee surgery, he still has high expectations for himself.
It will be important for him to prove he is still a top-tier Point Guard in the NBA. As such, his wish is to remain an All-Star caliber guard in such a guard heavy league.
