No. 4: Hunter Long

When Hunter Long had his first game action in 2018, we should have known he’d end up a special player for the Boston College Eagles.

The action and stats were limited as a redshirt freshman, but when Long touched the ball, he made the most it. He only had four catches but they went for 103 yards and two touchdowns.

By the time he finished his Boston College career with eight receptions, 109 yards and a score in a season-ending loss to Virginia, Long was one of the Eagle greats.

His 2020 season saw him haul in 57 receptions, which led the nation for tight ends. This total was all the second-best by a tight end in Boston College history. Long finished with 685 yards and 5 touchdowns in 2020, which was capped off by being named to the all ACC first-team offense.

For his career, Long finished with 89 receptions, 1297 yards and 9 touchdowns, numbers that might have been higher had he returned for his senior season.

Opportunity is knocking, however. Long should be one of the top tight ends taken in the 2021 draft, joining a league where the player who he played behind at Boston College already roams.
