OF Marcell Ozuna

You have to know by now that if you are reading this, there is a chance that Andrew Benintendi is no longer a Red Sox player.

And if he is still one as you do, he is being shopped as we speak to other teams. Benintendi’s tenure in Boston could come to an end, opening the door for the Red Sox to make a splash and welcome the best hitter on the market to the Green Monster in 2021.

More from Red Sox Rumors

That hitter is Marcell Ozuna, who reminded everyone how good he is in 2020 when he smashed a league-leading 18 home runs and 56 RBI for the Atlanta Braves. He was, by all accounts, one of the best hitters in baseball during his stint with the Braves. He also had a 1.067 OPS, a stat that he’s continuously been impressive in.

You may be reading this and think to yourself, “can he field?” after he was mostly the designated hitter for the Braves in the 2020 season. The answer is yes, as a Gold Glove in his 2017 campaign proves that.

Ozuna’s potential to be in the middle of the Red Sox order could make this the best lineup in baseball, as he, Xander Bogaerts, Rafael Devers, and J.D. Martinez would be an unmatchable one through four for any team in baseball outside of maybe the Los Angeles Dodgers.

If Benintendi were to be dealt with, the Boston Red Sox would instantly be in the market for a guy like Ozuna. There’s a great chance both of these things happen, and it would be the exclamation point on a great offseason for Bloom and his team.
