One player who seems to be going under the radar for the Boston Celtics is Robert Williams. He has been playing rather well and deserves more praise from fans.

Sometimes it seems like people just look for Williams to slam home an alley-oop and end up on SportCenter’s Top 10.

While he can definitley do that, he can also do a lot more.

Williams is averaging nearly seven points and more than five rebounds a game. That might not seem amazing but in recent games, he has really been playing well.

Let’s just look at the Celtics latest game against the Clippers. Williams tallied 13 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. That’s rather impressive for a big man.

It seems like the rest of the NBA is also starting to realize how talented Williams is. Clippers head coach Ty Lue had some great things to say about the big man.

Why Boston Celtics big man Robert Williams deserves all the hype.

Williams provides the Celtics exactly what they need in the paint. He is a great rebounder and a great defender. Williams can go up and snag boards as well as swat shots away with the best of them.

When it comes to scoring, Williams is lethal on the fast break. If Boston has a two-on-one with Williams coming up the court, it’s almost guaranteed that he will go up and slam home a lob.

If there is anything that he needs to work on it would be developing his perimeter shooting since every player needs to hit jump shots in today’s NBA.

But there isn’t really a lot to complain about when it comes to Williams recently.

With how well he has been playing, Williams could earn himself a spot in the starting five. Even though Williams has played significantly fewer minutes compared to Daniel Thies, “Timelord” has just five fewer rebounds. Williams even has more steals and blocks than Theis.

A starting lineup featuring Williams and Tristan Thompson would instill fear in opponents and could help Boston improve their defending. That area of the game is definitley something that they need to improve upon in the second half of the season.

So there is no doubt that Robert Williams is deserving of the hype. He has worked hard and to see him being praised around the NBA must make both himself and Celtics fans happy.
