Tristan Thompson spoke to the media for the first time as a member of the Boston Celtics and he seems to have the perfect attitude for the team.

The Boston Celtics have been looking for someone who will round out the starting five and be a presence in the paint. Why not sign someone who has constantly bullied your team?

One of the Celtics many moves this offseason was bringing in Tristan Thompson. The big man from Cleveland will hopefully help out Boston a lot.

Thompson isn’t a guy who will score points at will, but his rebounding numbers should grab your attention. In the last two seasons, he has averaged 10 or more rebounds. Also, Thompson is a quality defender which is something that all Celtics fans will enjoy.

But coming from Cleveland will be a different experience for Thompson. In Boston, he will be a supporting player instead of one of the main pieces. His job will be to make life easier for Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

Celtics fans finally got to hear from Thompson on Thursday when he spoke to the media for the first time since becoming a Celtic. Besides expressing his love for LeBron James, he did a good job.

One of the things that stood out is Thompson’s attitude and aspirations headed into the season. He wants to be the Marcus Smart of the frontcourt which should get Celtics fans very excited.

"“Smart is a bulldog and he’s done a great job since he’s come here Day 1 not backing down from anyone,” Thompson said. “I think he’s done that awesome at the guard position. For me, at the big position, bringing that same energy. You guys (media) have seen me enough to know how I play, and I’m going to play the exact same way when I was in a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey playing (the Celtics) in the playoffs or in the regular season."

If Thompson is able to bring that type of attitude to Boston, fans will be happy. That’s exactly the mentality the Celtics need out of their big man.

It will be interesting to see what decision Brad Stevens makes when the season begins. Will Thompson come off the bench or will he start? Having him be a part of your second unit would make the team rather deep, but the most likely conclusion is that he is a starter on opening night.

Even though the Celtics lost Gordon Hayward, it’s hard to say that Boston got worse. The signing of Thompson will help out the team a lot and it seems as though they are primed to make a run in the East.

Expect Grant Williams to be a starter this season. dark. Next

The C’s made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals last season. The next logical step in their journey for banner 18 seems to be making it to the NBA Finals. With the attitude, Thompson has entering the season, it’s fair to say that wouldn’t be too surprising.
