Boston Bruins 6th, 7th, and 8th best player since the NHL Trade Deadline

I might have to duck after I say this, but the prolific goal-scorer David Pastrnak comes in at No.8. Let me clarify that I don’t think there are seven better players on the Bruins roster, but since April 12, Pasta has been in a bit of a scoring slump.

He’s only scored four goals in his last fifteen games, which wouldn’t be a big deal for a guy like Charlie Coyle but this is Pastrnak we’re talking about. Pasta has a bit of a reputation of slumping in the postseason, and the Bruins will need an improvement if they hope to make a run.

Here’s where it gets extremely hard to rank players. The Bruins have a truly formidable top seven players at the moment, but pulling up the rear at No.7 is Tuukka Rask.

Don’t get me wrong, Rask has been locked in, but he’s had the benefit of playing the Sabres three times in his seven starts since returning from injury. However, even including the five-goal debacle against the lowly Rangers this afternoon, the black and gold netminder is 6-1 with a .926 save percentage and two shutouts since April 15. This is still Rask’s job to lose.

Coming in at No.6 is the defensive stalwart McAvoy. McAvoy is certainly an X-factor heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs, as this is his first season without the Bruins old captain Zdeno Chara as a security blanket.

In all likelihood, he’ll have to take Chara on in the first round. McAvoy is a shot blocking machine, makes extremely smart plays, and is able to toe the line between overly aggressive and in control. He’s been an absolute wrecking ball this season.
