7 Boston Bruins who won’t return next season – Jake DeBrusk

It appears that the Jake DeBrusk experiment in Boston is over. After his performance in the postseason, it’s hard to see him staying in Boston.

To DeBrusk’s credit, he has been able to string together some quality performances. The problem is his consistency. So far in his career that has been his downfall.

In just under 60 games, DeBrusk had 16 goals and 10 assists. In the playoffs, he was only able to tally two goals and an assist.

The problem for DeBrusk is that he goes long periods of time without scoring. He seems to lose focus at times and take some foot off of the gas pedal. Bruce Cassidy even called him out publicly.

It does seem possible that DeBrusk stays on the roster simply because he would have to be traded. Boston would have to find a trade partner who would be willing to take on the winger.

The Bruins do have some wiggle room when it comes to trade discussions. Boston has a ton of cap space so they can take on a bad contract.

So while it’s not as certain as seeing free agents walk, don’t be surprised if DeBrusk gets traded before the start of next season.
