Boston Red Sox starting pitcher MLB Trade Deadline targets: Kyle Gibson

In highlighted as one of three players the Boston Red Sox should target from the Texas Rangers, starting pitcher Kyle Gibson would be another aggressive move by Chaim Bloom.

More from Red Sox Rumors

Like Nathan Eovaldi, Gibson is one of those pitchers who struggled with consistency early in his career but is now putting it all together to put himself into the conversation for the American League Cy Young award.

Imagine if Bloom pulled off such a deal.  Acquiring a potential Cy Young winner and inserting him in a starting rotation that would include Eovaldi, Eduardo Rodriguez and Chris Sale.

With a 6-3 record and 2.87 ERA, the 33-year-old Gibson will be one of the top targets among contenders come the MLB Trade Deadline, so the Red Sox would have to come aggressive or don’t come at all.

Although the veteran righty has struggled in his last three decisions with a 7.79 ERA and 1.96 WHIP, he would be a solid addition and probably the best and most obtainable option as far as front of the rotation available starters go.

Due to his age, Bloom won’t offer the kitchen sink for him, but if the price is affordable, why not go for the jugular.
