New England Patriots: 3 key day-after takes on the Philly game
The third take is the excellence of New England Patriots edge player, Matt Judon
This defense is made to menace any and all NFL offenses. This isn’t the tepid group of 2020. Bill Belichick spent lots of Bob Kraft’s cash and it looks like a lot of it was spent wisely.
The best outcome of that mega-spending is likely to be on Matt Judon, formerly of the Baltimore Ravens, one of the most astute personnel operations in the NFL.
He was involved in just about everything against Washington last week. And against Philadelphia, though he didn’t play very long, he made his presence felt.

But that’s just the beginning of the story about Matt Judon. Already nicknamed here, “The Force”, and a two-time Pro-Bowler, he is plain and simply, a defensive playmaker, par excellence.
And just what does that designation entail? Well, he’s an all-around edge player, terrific at all aspects of the game. And you will see that excellence all-season.
He collapses the pocket. He gets sacks. He crushes the run. He drops into coverage and snuffs out passes. He is just a one-man-wrecking crew on a defense that is loaded for bear, as they say.
Judon will be a veritable menace to any and all NFL offenses he faces. I’m predicting it here and now, this is not just a Pro-Bowler, but a possible All-Pro this season in the NFL.
That’s the best-of-the-best. I like everything about the guy. His presence. His demonstrative attitude. His work ethic. Whoever suggested this guy should get a raise.
I’ve been critical of the Patriot’s personnel operation on a number of occasions (no Christmas cards are on the way here from Foxborough), but I’ll put out this opinion.
The Judon signing is one of the best free-agent signings in the history of the franchise, and may very well be, THE best, ever.
And, you can hold me to that. Absent injury, just watch what this player will do for the New England Patriots. I, for one, can’t wait to see him in real games beginning September 12th.
So that’s it, the top three takes from last night’s game against Philly. What were the top three takes you took from the game? We’d like to hear them.
