New England Patriots linebacker Chase Winovich super excited to play against Tom Brady

Third-year linebacker Chase Winovich has something in common with Tom Brady.  They are both products of the University of Michigan.

But what is also interesting about their relationship is that Brady spent sone 1-on-1 time with Winovich during his rookie season helping the then Patriots quarterback work avoiding sacks.

Ironically, Winovich will have an opportunity to use that 1-on-1 time to his advantage this Sunday in getting some pressure on Brady.  Unless Belichick does some stunting to get some pressure up the middle, Winovich will likely bring the heat off the edge on obvious passing downs.

In sniffing out his first sack of the season, the Patriots linebacker is super excited to go against his former teammate and the Buccaneers in general.

"“It’s definitely super cool to have the opportunity to play against Tom Brady,” Winovich said during his video conference on Monday.  “I’ve thought about it.  I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think about it. …I’m just super thankful for the opportunity to have the chance to play against somebody like Tom, and to do it in this setting is truly a blessing.  So it’s definitely something I’m not taking for granted.”"

In averaging 5 sacks in this first two NFL seasons, Chase Winovich is due to record a sack or two in a game, and what better game to get those sacks than a game in which a quarterback he admires so much is returning to a place he used to call home.

Expect the golden locks to fly around the field on Sunday night.  Will it result in sacking Tom Brady?  There’s a good chance of it.
