The Boston Red Sox have gotten off to a fairly mediocre 3-3 start to their season so far. They managed to avoid getting swept by the New York Yankees to open the season, before taking two out of three against the Detroit Tigers.

There are still 156 games left to play, but we are already starting to find some things out about the 2022 version of the Sox. We knew coming into the season that they were going to be in for a season long battle in the American League East, and that’s already proven to be true. The Yankees very nearly swept them to open the season, and both the Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays have won their first series’ of the season.

While Boston hasn’t looked great in the early stages, there’s absolutely no reason to panic. Heck, they started things out in arguably the worst fashion possible last year by getting swept out of town by the Baltimore Orioles in the first series of the season. And yet they still found their way to the ALCS when all was said and done.

The Red Sox, much like every other team in the league, are still figuring things out, and that’s perfectly OK. However, they can’t take too much time to get their act together, otherwise they will find themselves looking up at the rest of the AL East field, and it’s going to be tough to catch up if they give their competitors a lead in the standings. With the first two series’ of the season in the books, let’s look at three takeaways from the start of the Boston Red Sox season.
