A true superstar does whatever it takes to help his team win a championship and that’s the approach Jayson Tatum has taken as the Boston Celtics are just two wins away from Banner 18.

But, as critics and doubters like “Undisputed” co-host Skip Bayless continues to point out, Tatum has been too inconsistent to be in that superstar class at least at this point in his career.  That has been highlighted or low-lighted by a minus-36 in Game 2 of the NBA Finals

Though the overall shooting hasn’t been great, Tatum is averaging 22.7 points in the Finals which is not shabby, but he has not really erupted as we all know Jayson Tatum can.

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has yet to have his explosive game in the NBA Finals

As a player who has not shied away from the big stage in his young career, the First-Team All-NBA star is struggling to find his offensive consistency, but instead of whimpering about it, he has converted himself as a playmaker by getting his other teammates involved.  He has also had his sidekick in Jaylen Brown picking up the slack in the team’s two wins.

With Game 4 in the wake on Friday night, the big question is can the Celtics put their foot on the throats of the Golden State Warriors and take a commanding 3-1 lead?  Thus far in the playoffs, the Celtics as a team has made a knack out of making things more difficult for themselves, but the superstar in Tatum can help make things easier.

While fending off Steph Curry, Clay Thompson, Draymond Green and the Warriors will be tough, the TD Garden crowd will be rocking and what better time for Tatum to have the type of epic game he is due to have in this series.

In looking back at the team’s past series’ during this playoff run, Tatum has had his moment in all three rounds.  He has yet to do that in the Finals and so far, has been content with helping the team in different ways.

After a 26-point performance in Game 3, it’s time for the emerging superstar to prove he can put up back-to-back good games in these playoffs, it’s time for him to carry the team for a game like his idol, the late Kobe Bryant, did for a couple of those Los Angeles Lakers teams.

Don’t get me wrong, the Boston Celtics win with team basketball, but there comes games where the will of their best player will need to take center stage.  There comes a time where that 40 or 50-point game will need to emerge.  Game 4 is probably that game given how desperate Curry and the Warriors will be to even the series and steal back their come court advantage.

While defense will be the key in fending off the Warriors, the scorer in Jayson Tatum will be the main key.  Whether it’s his mid-range game, driving to the hoop strong or finding his rhythm behind the stripe, that signature Tatum offensive performance is due.  In fact, it is overdue in this series.

Yes, the facilitator Tatum is becoming has made the Boston Celtics a more dangerous team, but the explosion is coming and Game 4 of the 2021-22 NBA Finals is the perfect time and opportunity to set it off.
