The Boston Celtics continue on in the off-season and we’re hearing more about Jayson Tatum.

Tatum recently sat down with Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report for an extended interview. After seeing some of the results all over social media, here are a few of the important tidbits I picked up on.

Boston Celtics Jayson Tatum working out with Kevin Durant

This isn’t necessarily the worst thing to hear in the world. All the time, we hear about NBA stars working out with each other in the off-season. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that JT has been working out with Kevin Durant.

We know that Jayson Tatum and KD have a previous relationship from playing on Team USA. There’s also been the videos of Durant saying that the Celtics would have problems with the Nets in the 2021-2022 season. How’d that one work out KD?

Regardless, it’s going to draw headlines. Especially with the rumors swirling of Durant potentially becoming a Celtic in a trade.

Regardless, this shouldn’t be a huge worry for any Celtics fans out there. The former Duke forward is going to work out with whomever he chooses. So if he wants to do weight-training and get shots up with one of the best in the game, more power to him!

Jayson Tatum was playing for the Boston Celtics with a fractured wrist

This is something that really wasn’t surprising. But it was good to have some reassurance and closure on why Tatum didn’t look like himself in the NBA Finals.

Tatum said he played with a fractured wrist for nearly two months. So some may even speculate that the star forward was hurt way before the playoffs. Looks like that part is true based on Tatum’s interview.

I remember thinking back to game three of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Milwaukee Bucks. The and-one dunk that Tatum had a step on Giannis? I remember thinking that Tatum didn’t look right after that. Turns out my suspicion was right!

This explains a lot about why Tatum played so bad in the Finals against Golden State. Sure, the wrist wasn’t broken. But the bone was chipped enough to hurt Tatum when he had hard contact to the part. Hopefully, Tatum’s wrist is good to go for what should be a tremendous 2022-2023 season.

The bottom line with Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum’s interview

This interview was good for clarity reasons. It let us know why JT was working out with KD. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that in the first place!) It also gave a lot of us confirmation about why Tatum played so bad in his first NBA Finals.

So there you have it! Jayson Tatum being very honest about a few things that we all were speculating about.

Tatum knows he has a great shot to win a championship in Boston with the current roster. Now that some rumors have been addressed, let’s get ready to ride this season with a highly-competitive Celtics team!
