We’re coming up on the most important stretch of the season and it seems the New England Patriots offense is more lost now than ever.

After an outstanding week on short rest against Minnesota, the Patriots’ offense laid an egg against Buffalo.

The first drive was executed to perfection. Establishing the run, play action, extending the field, and ending with a touchdown to your most versatile player. Watching it felt like we were finally dabbling into the Josh McDaniels playbook and getting back to the offense of old.

Silly me… the offense immediately reverted back to this boring scheme. Draws, bubble screens, and the toss back screens that couldn’t fool a blind man. It’s simply unacceptable.

New England Patriots offensive woes are all on Matt Patricia

It’s not a Mac Jones issue. When called on the kid has been performing, and performing well. He is completely restricted by his play-calling and the travesty that is the offensive line.

It’s worth mentioning the offensive line is also coached by Matt Patricia. I’m not sure where these schemes are coming from.

Dante Scarnecchia was here since the Stone Age and the offensive line was consistent with far less talent. At no point in those years was the 6-foot-9 left tackle cut blocking anyone at any point. The coaching by Matt Patricia has reached a level that it should be fireable.

The only thing that makes sense is that McDaniels playbook clearly grew legs and walked out of the building. Mac Jones was a top 10 quarterback last year with that very book, Kendrick Bourne was a weapon and Hunter Henry was a force in the red zone.

Instead, now the offense can barely cross the 50 without help, lead the league in pre snap penalties, and when they reach the red zone just go ahead and send folk out on third down.

It falls on the shoulders of Matt Patricia and Bill Belichick for this little experiment. Open up the playbook. Watch film from years past. It is must win season and you have a team more than capable enough to win these games. Stop putting handcuffs on Mac and let him sling his muffins.

WAKE UP MATT. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
