As the days go by and the off-season keeps passing our eyes, the Boston Red Sox continue to make a lack of big moves. Missing out on guys like Carlos Correa, Dansby Swanson, and even our own Xander Bogaerts!

It’s now gotten to the point where fans everywhere are questioning the true direction of the Boston Red Sox. What is the plan going forward? Chaim Bloom has taken a lot of (rightful) criticism. But where has John Henry been in all of this?

With the way that things are going, and the way they could be going in the next calendar year; I’m calling for John Henry to sell the Boston Red Sox.

John Henry cares more about other investments than the Boston Red Sox

It’s so evident now that it’s ridiculous. The Boston Red Sox have become the last priority on John Henry’s list. Think about all of the investments that Henry is now involved in that he cares more about in 2022.

There’s the purchase of Liverpool soccer that is extremely well-known to Red Sox fans. We all know that John Henry has a love for soccer, hence the purchase of the club.

There was the Pittsburgh Penguins. A hockey team that drew Henry’s interests. A hockey team that goes against another city that he has investment in, Boston!

Now apparently, Fenway Sports Group and LeBron James are going to buy an NBA team in Vegas? It never stops with this guy! He always has to be finding another investment to put his money into, for the future.

Henry isn’t a baseball guy. He’s a businessman, which is fine. But go take care of those other investments then!

John Henry didn’t want to keep the Boston Red Sox core together

Think of this core that helped the Red Sox win the World Series in 2018. The Red Sox had Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts, Andrew Benintendi, J.D. Martinez, and Rafael Devers. How many of the five are still remaining with the Red Sox? One. ONE! Rafael Devers and he’s more than likely gone after 2023.

You traded away Betts for Alex Verdugo.  Benintendi was traded for Franchy Cordero and Josh Winckowski. Henry and ownership didn’t even want Bogaerts back. Martinez just walked away to the Dodgers. How do you expect to win if you let all of your core go in a span of four years?

Simple answer, you can’t win because John Henry didn’t want to pony up the dough.

The bottom line with John Henry and the Boston Red Sox

This team needs a new owner. An owner that has the same fire and passion that John Henry had when he first had the Red Sox in the early 2000’s. An owner similar to what Steve Cohen is doing in New York with the Mets.

Next. Red Sox are at offseason crossroads again. dark

Sell the team, John Henry. You can have all your other investments with Liverpool, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and your Vegas NBA team. Give the Red Sox to someone who will actually care about the teams well-being and can actually keep their team competitive. What you’re doing right now isn’t working, so make a drastic change to do something that will work!
