It’s been truly a fun year to be a fan of this Boston Celtics team.

With Ime Udoka, the Celtics were in a position where they were two wins away from their first NBA championship since that magical 2008 team.

With Joe Mazzulla, the Celtics have started their 2022-2023 campaign as the best team in the NBA.

So what can we expect heading into 2023 from this team? Let’s get down to the nitty gritty here!

The Boston Celtics have championship aspirations in 2023

For this Celtics team, it’s championship or bust in 2023.

We saw that this team has grown into a championship contender in front of our very eyes. From the first year of Marcus Smart, to Jaylen Brown, and Jayson Tatum; the three of them have grown into winners.

Then we have the other pieces that have come along. Robert Williams III turning into a defensive monster. Al Horford coming, and going, and then coming back to be the veteran leader the Celtics need in the organization. The other pieces in place like Derrick White, Grant Williams, Malcolm Brogdon, and others giving the Celtics a complete team.

We saw this team go through adversity throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs.

There was the first round matchup with the Nets. How would the Celtics deal with the Kevin Durant-Kyrie Irving duo that knocked them out of the playoffs a year prior? A sweep solved that issue.

The Bucks series saw the Celtics down 3-2 heading to Milwaukee. Jayson Tatum had a career game in Game 6 and then a blowout in game seven helped the Celtics reach the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Eastern Conference Finals with the Heat saw the Celtics win a tough game seven on the road. A game in which they were winning by double digits and almost blew it in the final minute. But nonetheless, they won it and got back to the Finals.

This Celtics team went through adversity that championship teams have to go through in a given season. That’s why this upcoming year needs to be a “championship or bust” type of mindset.

The Boston Celtics not winning it all in 2023 would be a failure

Anything less than a championship in 2023 would be a catastrophe for the Boston Celtics. They have all of the talent and chemistry in the world to win it all. Now they just have to execute winning the whole thing.

dark. Next. C's should stand pat rather than trade for Young

The Celtics have proven time and time again that they can beat the elite teams in the NBA.

Look at the Christmas Day game against the Bucks. They were able to take care of the Bucks with ease. Then there were other solid wins in the East against the Nets, 76ers, and Knicks. For good measure, they took care of the Clippers, Nuggets, and Grizzlies too!

Point being, we know the Celtics can take care of the elite teams in the NBA with relative ease. I feel extremely confident that the Celtics can take care of anyone in the West.

The Warriors would be a challenge, but I feel confident the Boston Celtics can take care of that hurdle when the time comes.
