New England Patriots coaching staff to undergo significant changes

Matt Patricia shouldn’t be the only coach at risk for being replaced. QB Mac Jones’ regression happened under the tutelage of offensive assistant/quarterbacks coach Joe Judge. And this season New England allowed a punt blocked and three kickoff returns for touchdowns, putting special teams coordinator Cam Achord in the hot seat.

This may require more than an assistant coach shuffle. And if Mayo accepts a head coach position elsewhere, Belichick will have a vacancy to fill.

In an email to season ticket holders, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft said, in part:

"In the weeks ahead, we will be making critical evaluations of all elements of our football operation as we strive to improve and return to the playoffs next year."

It certainly sounds like the Krafts were behind the New England Patriots press release. Belichick’s coaching crew will be different next season. And after he assembles his 2023 coaching staff, they will gather with the scouting department and decide how to approach building the roster into a playoff team.
