TD Bank and the Boston Garden agreed to extend their naming rights through 2045 and it may have more of an impact than fans realize. Home to the Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins, TD Garden houses the two best teams in the NBA and NHL, respectively and the best part is, that’s not an opinion either!

On the NBA side of things, the Celtics lead the Denver Nuggets for the best record in the NBA by a game. On the NHL side of things, the Bruins lead the Carolina Hurricanes by seven points for the best record in the NHL.

What do both of these teams have in common? The TD Garden.

Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins primed to bring more banners to TD Garden

The NBA just released the reserves for the NBA All-Star game in Salt Lake City, Utah and Jaylen Brown has rightfully been named to the reserve squad. He joins teammate Jayson Tatum, who is starting for the third straight year. This will be Jaylen Brown’s second All-Star selection, his first since the 2020-21 season.

Along with Tatum and Brown, coach Joe Mazzulla will be heading to Salt Lake City for All-Star weekend, becoming the third coach in the last 24 seasons to coach an All-Star team in his first season as a head coach.

The NHL is set for tomorrow in Sunrise, FL and just like the Celtics, the Bruins will be sending two players and a coach.

Forward David Pastrnak was selected by fan vote for his third All-Star appearance and he will be playing for the Atlantic Division team alongside starting goaltender and teammate, Linus Ullmark. For Ullmark, it will be his first All-Star game in his eight year career and it’s well deserved as he’s having a career year, on pace to set a new record in wins, SV percentage, and GAA.

New Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery will be leading the Atlantic squad in Sunrise.

The similarities between the Boston Celtics and the Bruins are eerily similar this season, but in a good way for us Boston fans.

When it comes to record at home, the C’s have a 20-6 record at the Garden and the B’s have a 22-1-3 record. Thats a combined 42 wins and eight losses inside the TD Garden. Talk about a home court/rink advantage.

With both teams making their way around the halfway point in their seasons, it’s time for them to really turn it on and end their regular season schedules just as they started them. Dominant. When you look at their home records, it’s hard to imagine any team from any city come into TD Garden and beat either of these teams in a seven game series (knock on wood).

Now back to the naming rights I mentioned earlier. With the extension of the naming rights to 2045, that means there needs to be more magic for the next 20+ years, right? Whether that’s the case or not, for now, Boston sports fan can count on hometown teams based out of the Garden to pull through for a win
