When it comes to NFL dynasty’s, it would be hard for any team to mirror or even rival the success the New England Patriots had for nearly two decades.

Led by the coach and quarterback duo of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, the Patriots won six Super Bowls during that era, and most would argue there should be nine banners hanging in Gillette Stadium.  But, then again, some would argue they could’ve lost a couple of those championships.

Either way, just to make nine Super Bowl appearances in a span of 20 years is unprecedented and success that would be hard to rival.  But there is a coach and quarterback duo who could say something about that.

As Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs prepare for their third Super Bowl appearance in in four years, one podcast host feels Mahomes has had it better than any other quarterback in the last 20 years since a sixth-round pick named Brady took over for Drew Bledsoe.

Can Reid-Mahomes rival New England Patriots dynasty?

While Mahomes has a long way to go to start the Tom Brady career comparisons, in a span of five years, the Chiefs quarterback has led his team to five conference championships, three Super Bowls and has two MVP awards under his belt.  So “1st and Pod” host Danny Parkins may have a point when it comes to the success Reid and Mahomes have had in a small span of time.

"“It’s the best single best pairing of coach and quarterback that we’ve seen since…Brady and Belichick,” Parkins said, as transcribed by WEEI.  “But it’s for the new age because it’s offensive coach and quarterback, and the commitment is like nothing we’ve ever seen in the sport.”"

There is no doubt Mahomes is the new face of the NFL when it comes to quarterbacks, but it will take a few more rings for the Reid-Mahomes to truly compare to Belichick-Brady as far as the longevity of success.  But Parkins has a point when it comes to a team who are set up to challenge the Patriots dynasty or at least rival it.

If the Chiefs take care of the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, the NFL will have a new Brady-Belichick as far as a coach and quarterback duo the rest of the teams in the NFL will strive to beat.

The 2023 Hall of Fame induction class was revealed Thursday night during NFL Honors and Darrelle Revis highlighted a list of eight inductees which included Joe Thomas, Zach Thomas, DeMarcus Ware, Ronde Barber, Joe Klecko, Chuck Howley and Ken Riley.

During his 10-year NFL career, Revis was more of a New England Patriots nemesis while spending most of that time starring at cornerback for the New York Jets. But he was a part of the Patriots historical success helping the team win a Super Bowl in 2014.

It was just one season, but Patriots fans got to see Bill Belichick coach the seven-time Pro Bowler who earned the nickname “Revis Island.”

During that one season in New England, Revis played in all 16 regular season games with 2 interceptions and 14 passes defensed.  It wasn’t his greatest season, but his mere presence on the field allowed Belichick to be more creative on defense.  It all allowed Patriots fans to witness another Hall of Fame cornerback on the field and one of the greatest players to ever wear No. 24 in a Patriots’ uniform.

Congratulations Revis.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft endorses Bill O’Brien as OC

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft made his voice known after a disappointing 2022 season and Bill Belichick heard him.

After a less than successful and almost laughable experiment with Matt Patricia and Joe Judge running the offense, the Patriots went out and got themselves a real offensive coordinator.  In hiring Bill O’Brien as offensive coordinator, Kraft feels the team has a coaching mind that will make the offense great again.

"“I think he was an excellent choice,” Kraft told NBC Sports’ Phil Perry and Tom E. Curran.  “And he has learning-curve experience of our system.  He knows Mac Jones.  He knows how to build a great offense.  And I’m excited to see what happens next year.”"

The key there is that O’Brien knows Mac Jones which in itself should spark an improvement in the offense in 2023.
