When it comes to locking out the outside noise, it has almost been impossible for Jaylen Brown during his Boston Celtics career.  Since the day he was draft, the two-time All-Star has had to hear it.

Whether it was whether he and Jayson Tatum could play together to continuous trade rumors, Brown has continued to grow on the court as one of the top two-way players in the game.  So, why is Brown always involved in rumors every time an NBA superstar is put on the trade block?

Well, for one, it’s been determined that Tatum is the team’s No. 1 star, so trade packages are always centered around Brown.  That is from a talent and numbers aspect.  But what we have seen in Brown’s growth to stardom is that he may be more of a leader of the Boston Celtics than Tatum.

Boston Celtics ownership is committed to Jaylen Brown

While he admitted recently that he’s been “tested mentally” over the past year mainly due to the Kevin Durant trade rumors, that toughness of the leader he is has shined through.  In averaging 26.5 points and 7.0 rebound this season, there is no doubt Brown is a super star in this league and one that the organization, particularly Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck values.

During an appearance on The Greg Hill Show on Friday, Grousbeck talked about the team’s relationship with Brown and how he personally cured some of that mental stress Brown has been going through by somewhat addressing all those Celtics leaks.

"“Oh no. That’s not… first off, we don’t talk about private stuff — sorry — on the air, contracts or anything like that. But what happens in the league is that agents leak names or not even — people on other teams,” Grousbeck said, as transcribed by WEEI.“I mean, Brad’s probably on the phone with every team, definitely every week during the season, just saying, ‘Who do you like? Who’s playing well? Who do you like on our roster?’ And he files it away in like his mental database. That’s just that. They talk all the time about everything. That doesn’t mean a trade is proposed. Jaylen’s not going anywhere, and he knew that before the trading deadline because I told him personally.”"

The value of what Grousbeck said there is that he personally told Brown he wasn’t going anywhere.  That could turn out to be the difference between Brown possibly leaving in free agency or prolonging his career in Boston going forward as there has been rumblings of Brown feeling disrespected.

As the team’s 1A star, there could come a time Brown feels he need to be the No. 1 of his own team, but he will need to decide whether seeking that type of situation is greater than what he and Tatum could accomplish as a superstar duo.

To quote Brown’s own word, is this a point in his relationship with the organization that the “energy is about to shift” as far as his personal commitment to the Celtics?

It sounds like if Grousbeck has it his way, Brown will be a Celtic for life.
