The New England Patriots need to upgrade their wide receiver room. They have several receivers that will potentially be looking for new homes in Nelson Agholor and Jakobi Meyers.

That leaves you with a room of Devante Parker, Kendrick Bourne, and Tyquan Thornton. Plain and simple, you need more! You need a legit number one receiver.

One name that is intriguing is Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins.

One supposed rumor is that the Patriots could maybe trade a first and a fourth round pick for the 6’4 Higgins. If that was on the table, should the Patriots make the move?

Short answer: YES! Absolutely trade away a first and a fourth round pick for Tee Higgins.

New England Patriots getting Tee Higgins for Mac Jones

We all know that this upcoming season is crucial for Mac Jones. Jones is entering year three after having a stellar rookie season and a slumping sophomore campaign. Enter  Higgins into the equation.

All of the young quarterbacks in the league are turning a corner in year three of their careers, because of the acquisition of a legit pass catcher.

Josh Allen had it when the Bills traded for Stefon Diggs a few years back. Tua Tagovailoa got Tyreek Hill in a trade with the Chiefs last season. Jalen Hurts was fortunate to throw to A.J. Brown last season after a trade with the Titans. Those three took huge jumps.

With Mac, I truly think it would be the same thing. Give the Patriots a big body receiver in Higgins who can reach up and catch contested passes. With the NFL being an offensive-heavy game, the Patriots pulling off a Higgins trade could do wonders for Mac Jones career in the NFL.

New England Patriots getting Tee Higgins when the Bengals can’t pay him

If the Patriots are smart, they take advantage of Cincinnati’s financial situation.

The Bengals are going to have to give Joe Burrow a HUGE contract extension. Obviously, it’s rightfully owned. But you also have to figure that Jamar Chase is going to get a huge deal too. So where can they give Higgins the money?

That’s why ridding of the first and fourth round pick can give you two good outcomes here. The first being finally having a true number one receiver. The second being that the Patriots have the cap space this off-season to actually pay him!

Why would you not take advantage of that if you’re Bill Belichick?

If the deal is something the Bengals would actually take, then you do that deal.

Next. Time for Pats to have a real 'consensus' draft. dark

This roster has some holes that need fixing. If you’re Bill Belichick, get the big name receiver in a trade and then use the draft/free agency to plug the other holes.

You need a number wide receiver. Higgins wants to prove he’s a number one receiver on another team. What’s the problem here? Get on the phone with Cincinnati and see if they would take that deal!
