Charlie Coyle, Tomas Nosek and a Boston Bruins 10th straight win!
By Zachary McMahon
The Boston Bruins got their 10th straight win with a 4-2 victory over the New York Rangers 4-2 on Saturday Afternoon. This is the longest winning streak since the 2013-2014 season when they won 12 games in a row. The Bruins stampeded the Buffalo Sabres 7-1 on Thursday night.
Brad Marchand was in the game after suffering an injury in the 2nd period against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night.
The New York Rangers lost against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night 5-3 and that’s where the newly-acquired Patrick Kane made his Rangers debut. The Rangers are third in the Metropolitan division with 79 points.
Tyler Bertuzzi made his Bruins debut after being traded from the Detroit Red Wings early Thursday Morning. Bertuzzi was on the third line with Charlie Coyle and Trent Frederic. Bertuzzi had an assist for a Charlie Coyle goal in the 1st period.
Jakub Lauko was sent back to Providence after his two goal performance on Thursday and Matt Grzelcyk was a healthy scratch.
Boston Bruins player of the game: Charlie Coyle
In the win, Charlie Coyle scored a goal and an assist in the win against the Rangers. Coyle scored the first goal for the Bruins in the 1st period. Then he assisted on the Tomas Nosek shorthanded goal in the 2nd period which made the game 2-0.
The goal was Coyle’s 12th of the season and he didn’t score a goal in the entire month of February. The last goal was in the Overtime loss against the Florida Panthers on January 28. In the month of February he had five assists including two in the win against the Maple Leafs on February 1.
The last time Coyle had an goal and an assist in the game was in the 7-1 win against the Anaheim Ducks on January 8.
Coyle was able to show up and contribute to the first two goals of the game as he’s offered solid support in the 10-game winning streak with 6 assists in that span, including 2 in Thursday’s game against the Sabres.
Boston Bruins Play of the game: Tomas Nosek scores a shorty
Tomas Nosek scored his 5th goal of the season, when he scored on a shorthanded penalty in the 2nd period. This is the 2nd game in a row that they’ve scored a shorthanded goal as they scored 2 in Thursday’s game. The last time the Bruins did such a thing was on April 6 & 8, 2021 when they score shorthanded goals in wins against the Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals.
This was off a Bruins penalty for a Bertuzzi slashing against Artemi Panarin which carried over from the end of the 1st period.

This is his 2nd goal since returning from a foot injury when he was out for a month and he scored the goal in the win against the Edmonton Oilers.
Nosek is not a high goal scorer for the Bruins as he’s never reached 10 goals in a season in his career but he’s provides support for the 4th line.
The Boston Bruins are on a short break until Thursday when they’ll face Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers at TD Garden.
