Patriots Rumors: Exploring the possibility of Allen Robinson in Foxboro
The New England Patriots continue to look at all avenues to get some receiving talent in the offense.
With Mac Jones heading into a crucial year three, it would help to have a legitimate threat at number one receiver. Devante Parker, Kendrick Bourne, and Tyquan Thornton are just NOT that in this offense.
Deandre Hopkins is a name that has been linked to the Patriots. But who knows if the Cardinals receiver will actually get traded, or end up with the Patriots?
But one name has emerged today as another potential receiver on the market: Rams receiver Allen Robinson.
Robinson has been told by the Rams that he can seek a trade. It also looks like the Rams are willing to take on part of the wide receiver’s salary in a potential trade.
So if I’m the Patriots, I’d take a swing at Allen Robinson and see what can happen!
New England Patriots not having to pay the whole salary of Allen Robinson
The big piece of information to take away from this development is that the Rams are willing to pay a portion of Robinson’s salary to a team that wants him.
The former Penn State wide receiver is due $10 million for the next two seasons with the Rams. With a lack of production in 2022, it’s easy to see why the Rams want to potentially get rid of him. That could be huge for the Patriots in this scenario.
We know how much Bill Belichick loves to find a bargain when the situation presents itself. This could be even better than the Hopkins situation.
Say the Rams even take on four or five million of his contract next season. Assuming the base salary stays the same, the Patriots would love to secure Robinson for five to six million a year. Talk about a huge win!
New England Patriots getting a legitimate number one receiver in Allen Robinson
Should the Patriots pull the deal to bring Allen Robinson into Foxborough, they would actually have a number one receiver!

Don’t forget, Allen Robinson had some really big seasons in Jacksonville and Chicago before signing a three year deal with the Rams in the 2022 off-season. Remember 2015 when he was a Pro-Bowl receiver with 14 touchdown receptions? Yeah, he can get in the end zone!
That’s something that Patriots receivers had trouble doing last year. Yes, Bill O’Brien does help a bit. But the talent need to be there in order for the offense to take a true jump. Robinson can do that for this Patriots team.
The bottom line with the New England Patriots and Allen Robinson
It’s worth the Patriots making a call to the Rams about Allen Robinson.
With the facts of getting a legit number one receiving threat and not having to pay the full contract, Robinson could make sense in a Patriots uniform in 2023.
Hopkins will cost you a draft pick. Other receivers might require big contracts. Allen Robinson might not cost you as much as the first two potential options.
Pick up the phone Bill. Make the call and get a number one receiver for 2023, please!
