We as fans have been calling for the New England Patriots to make a move at wide receiver. Any move to bring playmakers into this offense!

With the loss of Jakobi Meyers to the Las Vegas Raiders, it seemed like the offense was heading in the wrong direction. What direction would the Patriots go in? Well, we got an answer today!

The Patriots today signed free agent wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to a three year, $33 million contract. The first two years are slated for Smith-Schuster to make $22.5 million.

Some Patriots fans may not like this move because the Meyers leaving aspect is still so fresh. But honestly, this is a great move by the Patriots.

New England Patriots bringing in a playmaker in JuJu Smith-Schuster

With the former Steeler and Chief coming to New England, he brings a level of playmaking that this Patriots team desperately needs!

With the Chiefs in 2022, we started to see a little bit of a flashback to what the 6-foot-1 receiver did in his glory days with the Steelers. He ended up with 78 receptions for 933 yards and three touchdowns. Sure, the touchdown numbers seem a bit low. But when you’re playing in an offense with Travis Kelce and Mecole Hartman, it’s hard to get touchdowns.

Plus, Smith-Schuster can play in the slot and be dependable to actually catch the ball in tough situations. The yards after catch with JuJu is something that can’t be ignored either.

Get him working with Mac Jones this off-season and the quarterback will quickly begin to see just how valuable the receiver will be to this Patriots offense.

The Smith-Schuster signing to the Patriots is great because it indicates that another wide receiver move is coming down the pipeline. From which direction it will come from, that remains to be seen with this organization.

This is where the Patriots have to think outside the box a bit. We know the two big options out there are Deandre Hopkins and Jerry Jeudy. But with those two names, you need to be able to actually make the effort to get them.

Bringing in a Hopkins/Jeudy to go along with JuJu, Devante Parker, Kendrick Bourne, Tyquan Thornton, Rhamondre Stevenson and Hunter Henry? That gives you a much better offensive skill group to work with compared to 2022! So hopefully, the Pats aren’t done with their wide receiver group just yet.

The last word on JuJu Smith-Schuster signing

You have to give credit to the New England Patriots for making a signing for a good, veteran wide receiver that just won a Super Bowl. But it can’t stop there and I’m willing to bet that it doesn’t!

Next. Patriots fiddling while rest of NFL improves. dark

We are getting a better version of Jakobi Meyers with Smith-Schuster. Obviously, Bill Belichick feels that way considering he’s giving the former USC Trojan the same contract that Meyers is receiving from the Raiders.

So welcome to New England, JuJu! Just keep the TikTok dances to a minimum, produce, and you’ll be loved here by all.
