Not everyone loves Bill Belichick.  But even those who have spoken out against the New England Patriots head coach acknowledge his resume as a coach.  In fact, it’s the general manager version of Belichick who rub players the wrong way, especially when they don’t get paid.

When it comes to former Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel, the GM in Belichick has fueled an animosity that has lasted long past his playing days.  Samuel has been the prime cheerleader of Belichick’s demise the last couple of seasons and would tell anyone on social media that Belichick’s success was all about Tom Brady.

The former NFL cornerback obviously has a gripe with his former head coach over contract issues which lead to Samuel leaving town, but is he going too far at this point?  He is certainly entitled to his opinion, but not every player shares his experience with Belichick.

Asante Samuel warned Lamar Jackson about the Patriots, Bill Belichick

Taking digs at Belichick every chance he gets, Samuel inserted himself into the Lamar Jackson rumors by sending a warning to the quarterback via Twitter.

"“Lamar Jackson, my brother trust me you don’t want to play for Belichick,” Samuel tweeted."

This came after Patriots owner Robert Kraft told reporters that rapper Meek Mill told him in a text that Jackson wanted to come to New England.  Kraft said it would be up to Belichick which had Patriots Nation drooling over the possibility.

But, like he loves to do, Samuel did his best to damper any chance of that happening, not that Jackson would take his word for it as Belichick’s reputation around the league can survive a former player who has an obvious chip on his shoulder.

Again, Samuel has the right to feel how he feels, and no one is stopping him from voicing his views, but it’s getting a bit much.  It’s one thing if he was saying this while he was still in the league, but the fact all this anti-Belichick chatter is coming when the coach hasn’t been as successful is not a good look.

Kick a man while he’s down will ya Asante Samuel.  At least this time, a current player responded to Samuel to let it known that not all players feel that way.  Taking to Twitter to respond to Samuel, Matt Judon responded:

In standing up for his coach and the culture, Judon’s rebuttal to Samuel’s latest tweet at least shows he still has his player’s respect.  As far as Samuel goes, perhaps it’s time to relish your time in New England and just leave the Patriots coach alone.

Next. Why Bill Belichick should seal the deal for Lamar Jackson. dark

Your words is not going to change Belichick’s history as a head coach and it won’t stop players from coming to Patriots to play under a coach that actually drafted you in the third round and put a couple Super Bowl rings on your fingers.

Oh, and back then, Brady wasn’t the Brady we all know now.
