Celtics locking up the No. 2 seed in the East is an underlying blessing

The NBA playoffs are starting up in a few weeks and seedings are already starting to pan out. For Boston Celtics fans, there’s good news and bad news.

The good news is that they will more than likely be slotted into the two seed in the Eastern Conference.

The bad news is that the Celtics were in first for a majority of the season and let the Milwaukee bucks overtake them for the one seed in the East.

But when it’s all said and done, the second seed could be what’s best for this Celtics team! Call me crazy, but it all could fall in their favor.

Boston Celtics having a good path to the Eastern Conference Finals

The Boston Celtics would play the number seven seed in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. This means that they would match up with either Miami (more likely matchup) or Brooklyn (second  most likely matchup), with four of the games scheduled to be at T.D. Garden.

If you’re a betting type of person, you’d take the Celtics in either one of these matchups.

You’ve proven you can beat Miami in a grueling playoff series with the 2022 Eastern Conference Final. Plus, Miami is not as strong as they were last season. So that’s a matchup I love in the Celtics favor.

The Nets, yes, you have the 28 point lead that came out as a loss for the Celtics. But the Celtics star power of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown can overtake a series while the Nets don’t have that same star power to match up.

Then of course would (probably) be the Philadelphia matchup. The Celtics have won three of four matchups against Philly this year. This including a two point loss with Joel Embiid going crazy with no Brown or Robert Williams III playing in the game! If you’re a Celtics fan, you love your chances against Philly and getting back to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Boston Celtics having confidence against the Milwaukee Bucks

The Celtics have a ton of confidence playing against the Bucks and it shows in their regular season matchups.

Why shouldn’t the Celtics be confident? Winning two out of the three against the Bucks in convincing fashion is a good sign. One of those wins was a 41 point victory in the Bucks house!

The one loss? An overtime loss when the only starter that played was Derrick White. If you’re playing to that ability, then you have to feel good as a team going into Milwaukee.

It’ll be a tough series, but I think the Celtics can handle this Bucks team, whether at home or on the road.

The bottom line with the Boston Celtics getting the two seed

The No. 1 seed would’ve been nice for the home court advantage purpose. But getting the two seed isn’t the worst option in the world either.

Next. C's enter crunch time in final throes of season. dark

Keep in mind, the Celtics will avoid Cleveland/New York in the first and second rounds. Very good thing!

If this Celtics team is the title contender we all were expecting coming into this year, they’ll show us in the playoffs.

No more playing the Rockets. No more playing teams like the Magic or the Pacers. They’ll be playing all really good teams. Something tells me we’ll see the best version of this C’s team soon. Bring me the playoffs!
