Boston Bruins sets wins record vs Flyers; Pasta with another Hat Trick!
By Zachary McMahon
The Boston Bruins won their 63rd game of the season for the NHL record when they won 5-3 against the Philadelphia Flyers on Easter Sunday.
The Bruins tied the record in the win against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night.
The Philadelphia Flyers have now lost seven straight games as they’re out of playoff contention. The Bruins have swept the Flyers this season including wins on January 16 and November 17.
Boston Bruins were a little shorthanded so they brought help
In order to win this game, the Bruins had to bring depth to the lineup because some of the players are banged up with injuries.
Despite recently activating Taylor Hall and playing in the win against the Devils, Hall was not active against the Flyers as he’s recovering from the lower body injury that sidelined him for two months. Patrice Bergeron is dealing with a head injury that he suffered in the win against the Penguins on Tuesday. Charlie McAvoy was still reeling from an upper body injury that he suffered in the win against the Maple Leafs on Thursday. David Krejci has missed a week with a lower body injury. Dmitry Orlov was inactive with a undisclosed injury. Linus Ullmark who started Saturday’s game is also out with a lower body injury.
In response to this, the Bruins called up five players from the Providence Bruins in emergency callups. Forwards Vinni Letteri and Oskar Steen, defensemen Jack Ahcan and Connor Carrick and goaltender Brandon Bussi.

Steen and Ahcan were both scratched, while Letteri and Carrick both were active for the Bruins. Letteri played in his first game as a Bruin as he’s spent all season with Providence. In the previous two season, he played 36 games with the Anaheim Ducks scoring five goals and five assists. Carrick played in his first game as a Bruin and his first game in almost two years as he last played in the 2020-21 season with the New Jersey Devils where he scored 1 goal and 1 assist.
Bussi was Swayman’s backup for the game, he was signed by the Bruins from Western Michigan last season. Bussi has started 31 games for Providence this season has a 21-5-4 and could be an asset if Swayman needs rest.
Charlie Coyle moved up to the 1st line at center, Letteri was on the 4rd line with Frederic and Lauko and Carrick was on the 3rd line with Grzelcyk. Jakub Zboril moved up to the 2nd defensive line with Connor Clifton, who was inactive for Saturday’s game.
Boston Bruins Player of the game: Pasta hats it again
David Pastrnak had a hat trick once again for the B’s as he scored 3 goals in the win against the Flyers and also assisted for Zacha in the 3rd period, Zacha himself is coming off a 2 goal game against the Devils.
Pasta scored his 60th goal of the season and his 300th career goal at the start of the 3rd period. He’s only the 2nd Boston Bruins player ever to score 60 goals in a season and joins Phil Eposito on the list as he scored 60+ in four different seasons.

This was Pasta’s 15th career hat trick as he reaches 2nd-most on the Bruins hat-trick all-time behind only Eposito who had 26. This was also Pasta’s 2nd Hat trick in 8 days as he notched one in the win against the Penguins on April 1.
The Bruins will now have a chance to tie or break the points record as they’re one point away from tying it when they face off against the Caps on Tuesday and the Canadiens on Thursday.
