The 2024-25 NHL season is officially in full swing. Having said that, don't be surprised if these three Boston Bruins don't survive the year with the franchise.

The Boston Bruins opened up their 2024-25 NHL season schedule with a road matchup against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. It was a hard-fought start to head coach Jim Montgomery and the Bruins' journey as they attempt to win the franchise's first Stanley Cup in nearly 15 years.

While the Bruins have one of the league's more promising rosters on paper, not everybody's future with the franchise is guaranteed. While players like David Pastrnak and Jeremy Swayman will likely spend their careers in Beantown, others could be sent packing before the current campaign is even over.

With that in mind, here are three Bruins who won't survive the 2024-25 season.

1. Joonas Korpisalo, G

The Bruins acquired goaltender Joonas Korpisalo four months ago in a trade that sent 2023 Vezina Trophy winner Linus Ullmark to the rival Ottawa Senators. Even though Korpisalo is nowhere close to Ullmark's level, the hope was that the Finnish netminder could serve as a reliable backup for Swayman.

But even though Korpisalo currently has four seasons remaining on his five-year, $25 million contract, his future with the Bruins is far from safe.

For starters, the 30-year-old netminder isn't a stranger to changing teams. The Bruins mark the fourth franchise that he's played with since the start of the 2022-23 campaign, signifying that he isn't the type of goaltender that teams see as a long-term solution.

Secondly, Korpisalo could be chased out of town if he doesn't return to form. The former 2012 third-rounder was the human equivalent of Swiss cheese last season as he went 21-26-4 with a .890 save percentage and 3.27 goals-against average across 55 appearances with the Senators.

Thirdly, the Bruins also have Brandon Bussi in their system. The 26-year-old puck-stopper has played extremely well in Providence during the last two American Hockey League seasons and could push for an NHL job if he successfully protects the crease again.

In other words, unless Korpisalo has quite the season to remember, it's hard to imagine him being back with the Bruins next year.
