Dallas Cowboys

Jerry Jones and Bill Belichick? Wowza. The 3-5 Cowboys look destined to miss the playoffs especially now that Dak Prescott will be out at least four games. With a 42-25 record as the head coach, Mike McCarthy’s squad has regressed this season.

With many pointing to the departure of defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as the reason for their downfall, McCarthy could be out of a job by year's end.

With a talented roster and a quarterback in his prime, the former Packers head coach is 1-3 in the playoffs. For a team as talented and famed as the Cowboys, playoffs are what will define your tenure and McCarthy has failed to live up to expectations. Most notably, last year’s blowout home loss to Green Bay 48-32 was particularly embarrassing.

To me, this should be Belichick’s first choice. A big-market franchise with talent, the Cowboys might truly just be a coach away. Belichick comes in with loads of playoff experience and could help fix the defensive woes.

Now, as many football fans know, Jerry Jones, the owner, loves having power. Also, as the general manager, would Jones be willing to relinquish some team control and trust Belichick’s vision? This will certainly be the biggest obstacle the two have to navigate, but if the two can strike a deal, football fans should be all for it.

Unfortunately, the Patriots and Cowboys do not play each other next season (barring a miraculous Super Bowl matchup), so if this tandem happens, Belichick will not have to face New England.
