Beloved Patriot Suddenly on Verge of Return After Surprising Week 11 Update
By Cem Yolbulan
Over the last three weeks, the New England Patriots turned their season around and instilled hope and optimism in their fanbase. Even though the Patriots are still far from being a good team, at least the future is looking brighter.
Patriots fans received more good news on Thursday. NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that standout defender Christian Barmore is practicing for the first time since his blood clots diagnosis over the summer.
Patriots DT Christian Barmore Returns to Practice on Thursday
Barmore has been on the non-football injury list all season but has stayed close to the team per reports. He thanked Patriots athletic trainer Jim Whalen and the training staff for "literally saving his life", per Rapoport.
The 25-year-old defensive tackle will certainly need to build his conditioning before going out there but he will be a massive help when he eventually makes his return.
After being one of the best run defenses in the league and overall a solid defensive unit last season, the Patriots took a step back in 2024. Injuries to Barmore, Ja'Whaun Bentley, and Kyle Dugger, as well as Jabrill Peppers' absence certainly played a part in the regression. Getting Barmore back will provide more competence in the interior defensive line for the final stretch of the season.
In the 2024 offseason, the Patriots signed Barmore to a four-year, $92 million contract extension, making him one of the highest-paid players in franchise history. As one of the defensive leaders for this young team, his presence will be hugely important going forward. Patriots fans should be thrilled to have Barmore healthy and back in action.
