Everything You Need to Know about Patriots vs. Titans Week 9
By Ryan Bunton
For the second straight week, the New England Patriots will face off with a team desperately in need of a win. New England heads south to Nashville for a Week 9 clash with the 1-6 Tennessee Titans. The Titans are coming off their third-straight loss – a 52-14 drubbing at the hands of the Detroit Lions. Tennessee's lone win was over the 2-5 Miami Dolphins in Week 4.
As the league's basement dwellers, the Titans and Patriots currently hold the second and third picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, respectively. New England is sitting at 2-6 after finally finding their second win of the season in Week 8 – snapping a six-game losing streak. After rookie Drake Maye was knocked out of the game with a concussion in the first half, veteran Jacoby Brissett stepped in and helped guide the Patriots to a 25-22 win over their rival New York Jets. New England capped off a 12-play, 70-yard drive to take the lead on a Rhamondre Stevenson one-yard rush with 22 seconds left.
Beyond the current draft order, New England and Tennessee share several similarities in their 2024 campaigns. Both teams have first-year, first-time head coaches in Jerod Mayo and Brian Callahan, respectively. Both teams have also been forced to make changes at quarterback partway through the season. Will Levis started the Titans' first five games before Callahan turned to veteran Mason Rudolph. Jacoby Brissett also started the Patriots' first five before the team chose to give the keys to Drake Maye – New England's 2024 third-overall pick.
Certainly, no trophies will be handed out on Sunday between two of the league's worst teams, but New England will be looking to string two wins together for the first time this season and Tennessee is angling to get back into the win column following their third-straight loss.
