Camps have officially begun for all of the NFL's 32 clubs, and one of the most interesting teams to keep an eye on is the Pete Carroll-led Las Vegas Raiders.

With Carroll roaming the sidelines, Geno Smith now under center, and the dynamic Ashton Jeanty ready to carry the load, there's a lot to be excited about for the first time in a while in the 'Sin City.'

Despite training camp officially kicking off, Carroll and co. are not done adding to their roster ahead of the pre-season.

The Raiders announced the signing of former Patriots offensive lineman Atonio Mafi, along with several other available veterans, perhaps most notably including former Pro Bowl safety Jamal Adams.

Atonio Mafi Could Latch onto Raiders' Roster with Strong Training Camp

While certainly not the most prevalent name to sign with the Raiders ahead of training camp, Mafi may have one of the best shots to stick with the club following the preseason (outside of Adams).

The 6-foot-3, 330-pound offensive lineman struggled to find consistent playing time after the Patriots selected him in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Mafi started five games during his rookie season after the club's previous year's first-round pick, Cole Strange, battled injuries for the duration of the 2023 season. However, Mafi was eventually replaced by fellow rookie guard, Sidy Sow, for the remainder of the season.

Despite his struggles in New England, Mafi's path to making the Raiders' roster may not be far-fetched. With Dylan Parham and Alex Cappa projected as the club's starting guards heading into training camp, only practice squad member Jordan Meredith and third-round rookie Caleb Rogers make up the depth for the Raiders' interior offensive line.

With the Raiders having a bereft of talent after their starters along the offensive line coupled with Mafi having three seasons under his belt, which includes some regular season starting experience, the former UCLA star could very well be the favorite to be the first option off the bench if anything were to happen to Parham or Cappa during the season.
