With the regular season coming to an end this weekend, teams across the majors are either preparing for the playoffs or looking forward to the offseason.
For teams like the Boston Red Sox, they are among the several teams in the American and National Leagues battling for the remaining playoff spots.
However, for teams not in the playoffs, they’re still adding players to their rosters to see if they can show something in the final week, or releasing them, giving them a head start towards the offseason. This is the case for former Red Sox starting pitcher Connor Seabold, who was DFA’d by the Atlanta Braves on Monday.

The 29-year-old right-handed reliever did not pitch well in his brief stint with the Braves, as he had a 9.82 ERA across four appearances out of the bullpen. Seabold joined Atlanta last month after he was designated for assignment by Tampa Bay.
The veteran pitcher was immediately sent to Triple-A Gwinnett, where he would be recalled back and forth to the majors. Seabold’s ERA with the Braves’ minor league affiliate was 3.12 in six appearances.
In addition to his brief stint with the Braves, the former Red Sox starter has spent time with the Rays (2025) and the Colorado Rockies (2023). Seabold also played in the KBO during the 2024 season with the Samsung Lions (11-6, 3.43 in 28 starts).
As for his Red Sox career, Seabold started in six games with Boston between the 2021 and ‘22 seasons after being acquired in a trade from the Philadelphia Phillies during the 2020 COVID season.
Seabold had a 0-4 record and a 10.55 ERA and struggled to get guys out at the plate with a .402 opponents' batting average (2022). The Red Sox parted ways with Seabold following the 2022 season, trading him to the Rockies.
Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see where Seabold goes next in his career. It's unlikely that the veteran pitcher will sign anywhere over the next several days, so his next chance will be this winter when free agency opens.
