Spring has sprung, which means the 2024-25 NBA postseason is finally here.
The Boston Celtics remained as one of the league's best teams following last year's NBA Championship win, entering the playoffs as the Eastern Conference's No. 2 seed. Their path toward a potential second consecutive title begins with an opening-round matchup against the No. 7 Orlando Magic, leaving time to tell if the Celtics have what it takes to finish on top of the mountain again.
As good as the Celtics are on the floor, they'll need all of the off-court support to bring another title to Beantown. In other words, Boston fans must ensure that TD Garden is rocking every night to give head coach Joe Mazzulla's players all the motivation they need to succeed.
As rowdy and loud as Celtics fans can get at home games, a former franchise favorite hinted at a surprise that could take the TD Garden crowd's noise to a new decibel level.
Isaiah Thomas Teases TD Garden Appearance Before Celtics Playoff Run
The Celtics have rostered a plethora of fan favorite players throughout their illustrious history, including two-time NBA All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas. Even though the 5-foot-9 playmaker only played 179 games across parts of three seasons with the C's, Thomas' significant impact in a short time carved out a spot in Boston fans' hearts forever.
It's been a long time since fans have seen Thomas in Boston. The 36-year-old veteran hasn't made a TD Garden appearance since he visited as a member of the Washington Wizards back in November 2019, leaving fans craving for a reunion. Having said that, the fanbase and player might not be apart for much longer.
On Friday, Thomas revealed during a social media Q&A that he's interested in making a home appearance during the Celtics' upcoming postseason run. Whether that's as a special guest or an "analyst in the studio," it's easy to imagine the deafening reception if he does show up at a TD Garden playoff game.

Even though one comment doesn't guarantee a playoff pop-in, the above post wasn't Thomas' lone hint towards a return.
Former NBA wing Evan Turner — who played two seasons with the Celtics — responded to his former teammate's post by saying he's interested in appearing at a playoff game, too. Turner's two lone years in Boston were played alongside Thomas, including when the former finished fifth in 2015-16 NBA Sixth Man of the Year voting.
"We gotta go on there together fa shooo," Thomas replied to Turner regarding a potential playoff broadcast appearance.
Team writer and "Celtics Weekly" host Marc D'Amico also got in on the action, telling Thomas to "come hang" with the broadcast team during an upcoming game. It took the former 2011 second-rounder less than two hours to reply to D'Amico, telling the analyst to "just let me know" when works best.
Putting everything together, it sure sounds like Celtics fans should expect to see Thomas at TD Garden at some point this spring. The beloved fan favorite deserves to be celebrated after dazzling the city by averaging 24.7 points and 6.0 assists with .443/.368/.889 shooting splits during his brief, yet morable run.
As for the Celtics, they'll head into the 2024-25 NBA postseason's opening round with the second-best Finals odds (+185) on FanDuel Sportsbook.
