The New England Patriots will hope for better days in 2025 after making Mike Vrabel their 16th head coach in franchise history. The Patriots tabbed Vrabel as their next head coach after shockingly parted ways with first-year head coach Jerod Mayo.

Vrabel will look to change the culture in New England after seeing how things played out over the last two years under Mayo and Belichick. The new Pats head coach hasn’t made any hires to his staff yet, but Vrabel will have a lot of vacancies to fill after parting ways with five position coaches.

However, we might have some insight into two coaches Vrabel could bring to Foxborough. In a column written by ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Vrabel is targeting his former strength coach and director of football administration from his Tennessee days.

"Sources around the NFL expect Vrabel to bring Frank Piraino, his former strength coach in Tennessee, to New England to achieve that (conditioning) goal, Reiss wrote. Piraino, who knows the area well from his time at Boston College, spent last season with the Giants.

And just as Bill Belichick had football research director Ernie Adams to assist him with game management, Vrabel had John Streicher in that role with the Titans. Now, Streicher is expected to follow Vrabel to New England. Streicher, who like Vrabel is an Ohio State alum, spent the 2024 season with the Rams."

These two potential hires won’t jump off the page to Patriots fans, but both will play an integral role in New England’s success.

Piraino spent this season with the New York Giants as their director of strength and conditioning on Brian Daboll’s staff. Before joining Daboll’s staff, Piriano spent five seasons in Tennessee with Vrabel as the Titans’ strength and conditioning coach (three years) and director of sports and performance (two seasons).

Meanwhile, Streicher has spent this season as a game management assistant with the Los Angeles Rams. Streicher played an instrumental role in the Titans’ success on Vrabel’s staff in Tennessee.

Streicher was with Vrabel for all six seasons, serving in several roles. Last year, he was the Titans’ director of football administration and previously held positions as football development coordinator (2020-22) and assistant to the head coach (2018-19).

It’s not shocking to see Vrabel bringing familiar faces with him as that can help speed up the process of what’s expected. Patriots fans hope Vrabel’s Titans' success will take effect immediately in 2025.
