The New England Patriots have been active since the regular season came to an end. After parting ways with Jerod Mayo, the Patriots hired Mike Vrabel as the 16th head coach in team history.

The Patriots introduced Vrabel as the head coach on Monday, officially turning the corner on an exciting chapter of New England history. There will be moving parts in the organization over the next few weeks, including members of the coaching staff.

One of the biggest question marks is who will be the offensive coordinator. During an appearance on WEEI, Vrabel was asked about the possibility of bringing in Josh McDaniels.

Patriots Rumors: Josh McDaniels is a Candidate for OC

Vrabel said that he and McDaniels had a relationship, but they are going to take their time finding a new offensive coordinator.

Vrabel said, "I’m going to look at every possible candidate…there’s a long list. I’ve had a relationship w/Josh (McDaniels)."

The 49-year-old added that this process will start on Tuesday afternoon and could take weeks to land an OC.

McDaniels is someone who has an extensive career in New England. He was an offensive coordinator for two different stints (2006-2008 & 2012-2021), securing six Super Bowl titles during the dynasty with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

While he's the obvious candidate, multiple other guys will have an interest in joining New England. Tommy Rees, Alex Van Pelt, Josh McCown, Nick Caley, and Todd Downing are a couple of names floated around.

The Patriots have Drake Maye entering his second season. He showed tremendous flashes as a rookie so Vrabel wants to make sure they have someone who will get the most out of him and have a productive offense. That has been a problem in New England for the past few years and Vrabel is making sure to do his due diligence.
