The New England Patriots have been getting after it during their 2026 training camp. There have been plenty of ups and downs, but today we are going to dive into the highlights so far. Patriots fans are getting very excited for the season, and for good reason; it looks like Vrabel has his guys ready for another Super Bowl run. With that being said, let’s take a look at some of the best highlights from training camp.
Gonzo vs. A.J. Brown is pure cinema
The term iron sharpens iron has been in full effect between the best corner in football and one of the best receivers.
Christian Gonzalez is obviously one of the best corners in the league, if not the best, and lining him up against A.J. Brown every day has been amazing to watch. The physicality of Brown battling against the athleticism and speed of Gonzalez is going to give both players a massive advantage heading into the regular season.
Brown will be prepared for any corner he has to face this season since he’s been having to deal with the best man coverage corner in the entire league. He’s been using his size and strength to try and beat Gonzo, but there are plenty of reps where Gonzo locks him up as well.
Overall, this matchup will have a huge impact on the entire season and will give both the offense and defense advantages against all their opponents.
WIll Campbell looks ready for a year two leap
Will Campbell was obviously a top-five pick in the NFL draft, and early last season looked like he was the future franchise left tackle. He played incredibly well before his injury, and when he rushed back for the playoffs, it was clear he was a shell of himself.
After an entire off-season of getting healthy and training with some of the top tackles in the league, Campbell has shown serious leaps in his play. Throughout training camp, there have been multiple reports about his dominance and technique looking much better. This is spectacular news for Drake Maye, who was on life support in the Super Bowl against that Seahawks defense.
If the LSU alum can stay healthy and stay on track, he has the mentality and violence to be a cornerstone of the Patriots franchise for years to come.
Gabe Jacas looks like one of the Avengers
Jacas obviously was limited this spring with injury and contract issues, but after taking the field for the first time, it’s clear he’s an NFL talent. His size alone is intimidating to say the least. It’s also easy to see how violent and aggressive he is in drills, which is exactly what the Patriots need at the edge rusher position. My prediction is Jacas will be dominant in year one and will become the top edge rusher for the Patriots, making plays deep into a playoff run.
